Happy Earth Day

We celebrated Earth Day by planting my annual basil patch. Seriously, it's the only thing that I plant that lives. It flourishes under my kitchen window.

Yesterday, I taught Caroline about seeds, roots, stems, and leaves. We colored a picture of a mommy and daughter planting seeds, and I drew a seed's life cycle. I also prepped the soil by pulling weeds... a great opportunity to look at roots up close. Caroline wanted to see more, so I ended up doing more weeding than I'd intended.

Tell her tomorrow to look for some more "roots" in a different flowerbed! ;-)
