Zoo trip

Since Kevin didn't think he'd be able to concentrate on his job search on Election Day, we opted to go to the zoo. It turned out to be a great day. A lot of schools were out since some campuses were hosting voting, so we didn't have any big school groups to contend with... just some other families with the same idea.

This was my fifth zoo trip and I'm still discovering places I haven't seen.

We went into a building with some fish and prarie exhibits. The actually have a tunnel through one of the aquariums. No, that's not a fish, that's Caroline in there!!

This is where we were when Kevin got the call scheduling his first in-person interview for Friday at 9 am. Say a prayer for him tomorrow morning!!

One of the things I like best about the Houston Zoo is how close you can get to the animals. We got to see them give one of the elephants a bath. He couldn't have been more than 5 yards away from us. They opened the windows on the elephant house and we all stood right there and watched.

This is us having our picnic lunch at one of the eateries. Caroline was having fun making Kevin open his mouth. He's such a fun daddy.

We bought Caroline two tickets for her first carousel ride. Mommy went first and we started out on a moving animal. We made several laps before she decided she didn't like going up and down, so then I held her the rest of our laps.

Daddy was smarter and picked a stationary giraffe. She rode him the entire time.

My favorite pictures are always from the petting zoo. Caroline must have made five trips to exchange her brushes... and the last couple trips, she got mommy a brush too.

Then, we played on the playground. It was full of bigger kids, but Caroline was running around like a pro. I know you are tired of me saying this, but I'm just so surprised by how brave she can be lately. She even went over a suspension bridge... which she's never walked on anything like it before and I wondered if it would scare her. As you can see, she loved it.

Here's a short video. Caroline is going down on the slide on her knees, which is the first time I've ever seen her do this... and is now a new "no no." The children's area is near the hospital helipad, so that's most of the noise in the background.

Wow, she IS getting brave, going through that tunnel and all! I can't believe how long her hair is getting! Oh, and cute shirt she has on!
