Halloween Post

On Halloween, we started off the morning with a costume parade at a local nursing home. Caroline got lots of candy... most of which she can't eat b/c of her peanut allergy. Oh well, more for mommy and daddy.

The nursing home had prepared a craft for the kids to do.

It was a fun morning, but Caroline got her first real set of skinned knees walking on the sidewalk back to the car. Luckily a sucker pacified her until we got home to fix her up. But the funny thing about Caroline is that she hates bandaids - aren't all toddlers supposed to beg for bandaids? I even called them "special stickers." I got the first knee bandaged, but we had a huge meltdown getting the bandaid on her second knee. And an hour later, the bandaids were off.

Our street is really into Halloween. The past two years, they've rented a bounce house. Caroline hasn't been a huge bounce house fan, but I managed to drag her in. Once she discovered that this one had a slide, all bets where off. "Again! Again!" She loved it! I can't wait to take her to Ruckus Room... to actually play on the bounce houses for once.

Okay, here's the full get-up. With tights this time, so you don't have to see her skinned knees. She did very good wearing her strawberry shortcake hat most of the morning and evening for all to see. Everyone agreed she was very darling.

As you can imagine, Caroline is a big hit with the girls on our street.

Here are my pumpkin finished products. Elmo and traditional. I put some glow sticks inside since I didn't want to use candles this year. Our neighbors that have the scary ghost and hearse decorations had a haunted house in their driveway so we let them put the food tables in our driveway. We had a yard full and ended up with five bags of chips that no body claimed. We'll be eating nachos for dinner for weeks. Our party deterred most of the trick-or-treaters, so we have tons of candy left too.

I did take Caroline trick-or-treating with the neighborhood girls. I should have taken a wagon. We only did one small street and then we headed home.

She's such a cutie, Margaret - and you are looking great too. How many months are you now? (I guess I could look at your ticker!) :)

3 things:

1. One kid at our house said "Trick or Treat - I can't have peanut butter". As we looked at our Reeses cups, Reeses pieces, Peanut M&Ms and Butterfinger - Stephen finally managed to pull out some regular M&Ms for the poor kid. Even those have peanut warnings on them, don't they?? (I am sure you and Kevin had no problems "taking care of" the peanut butter candy for her. lol)

2. Caroline is so cute in her Strawberry Shortcake costume!

3. Look at those pregnant b00bs you have there! ;-)
