Yes, I think my daughter has unionized. I'll explain.
After listening to a retired Librarian at our MOPS meeting talk on "Raising Reader" a few months ago, I started reading to Caroline at the dinner table.
Caroline loves it!! "Book, book, book" is all I hear now when we sit down at the table. Often, I have to tell her "Later, mommy is still eating."
Caroline also likes to put her plate off of her tray and onto the dinner table when she's finished.
But, I've noticed (and I've been testing my theory this week) that if I give her the plate back and start reading her book, she'll finish eating what is on her plate. It's like she's putting the plate on the table and saying "You want me to eat? You read me a book!"
I honestly didn't start the "book thing" as a bribe. I started it to give her a love for books. But it's becoming clear who is in charge when it comes to books at the dinner table, and it's not mommy.
I know, I'm probably going to have to discipline and train for this. I conquered our "stair" situation this week (I know my friends are sick of hearing about that one - but I think I've won the battle). I guess I know what I'll be working on next week.

You have heard the old adage that no good deed goes unpunished haven't you? Well it's true. ;-)
Hahaha...well, since you are such a great mom - you have taught her the tricks of "motherhood" to use on you, too! ;-)
Such a precious cutie!
P.S. I am hoping to take Abigail for some 3 mos portraits this week but wanted to ask any advice from you first. Any thoughts or tips about the whole process (clothing selection, best studio, picture packages to pick, etc.)?
