Kevin and I have voted and we think that Caroline has "officially" taken her first step. I know that voting sounds kind of weird, but it is so hard for us to tell what is a step and what is a "controlled fall."
We've been catching Caroline standing for small moments off and on for a month or so. Then we would see her let go of one support and rotate to grab another.
This weekend she was holding onto a recliner and she turned and took one step to grab onto the futon. We weren't totally sure if we wanted to count this as a step - - we really don't want her to grow up too fast, you know. Anyway, to test her, we sat facing each other and passed her back and forth several times... one letting go of her while the other was posed to catch her. While a lot of it was "controlled falling," there were a couple genuine steps mixed in there.
I guess we'll give it a week or so and see if she takes off cruising or not.
On to other topics:
- Caroline is finally outgrowing her 6 - 9 month wardrobe. I bought her some bigger socks today. It's easy to buy new clothes, but its the socks and PJs that I forget about. Major clearance racks at Kohl's BTW.
- Her new favorite toy is her guitar. She can intentionally press the button on the head stock now that plays funny noises. Oh, and she likes her ABC picture book too.
- She signs "more" for everything... stories, music, food. We try to teach her other signs, but she's not catching on.
- And today, she is dropping down to two naps.
I'll have to download some pictures later since the camera is downstairs.

i know what you mean about the socks and pjs; you just keep shoving them in the same ones until you're finally like "we've got to go shopping!"
