I've been noticing something lately. The smell of laundry. Specifically, my mom's laundry.
Typically, when I go to visit my parents in Tyler for more than a weekend, I'll throw our laundry in with my mom's stuff. I don't really notice it at the time, but once I get home I can tell the laundry that was washed at my mom's. Caroline wore an outfit today that she hasn't worn since our last trip to Tyler. It smells like my parent's house. It's so neat how smells can hold a memory.
Sadly, the dress has apple juice on it now and will get washed. Then it will not smell like my mom's anymore : ( To me, of course, my laundry has no scent. It's weird how your own things have no distinct odor at all. That's another weird thing, my parent's house smells totally different to me now, than when I lived there. When I lived there, it smelled like nothing.
I hope no one thinks that I mean bad when I talk about smell. I'm just talking fragrance. I thought it would be something interesting to blog about since I've been sniffing Caroline's dress all day ; )

No, it's true - you get used to the scents around you everyday, so they smell like "nothing". Then when you leave and come back - that is when you notice them for a short time.
