Kevin's First Father's Day

Today is Kevin's first official Father's Day. I say "official" because we used to celebrate it with the dogs and I did get him a "World's Greatest Dad" T-shirt last year... to which he responded "I didn't know there was a competition."

It is so fun to watch your husband become a dad. Kevin has been wonderful as a father - not that I had any doubts. He shows Caroline the same patience and kindness that he has shown me for the six years I've known him. I was thinking back over the last eight months and the memories that he and Caroline will share.

- Changing all of Caroline's diapers in the hospital - really more of a service to me, I must admit.
- Staying up all night with Caroline the first night home.
- Zerberts. One of the things Kevin most looked forward to for nine months.
- Playing guitar with Caroline. They have their special daddy/daughter songs such as "Sweet Caroline." She just lights up if he starts singing to her.
- Reading books together on Saturday mornings.
- Bathtime (something that I decided dad should be in charge of).
- Wearing Green Bay Packer gear. Did you know that Caroline shares Brett Farve's birthday?
- Getting tastes of grapefruit juice, lemonade, Dr. Pepper, and a finger lick of beer.
- Visits to Kevin's office. She's a very popular little girl.

Kevin should write a song for Caroline. Something like "Binary Girl"...

Margaret, that was a wondeful essay about Kevin. I am so proud of all three of you.
