Once I was feeling a little better, later in the week, Charlotte and I started writing letters to Caroline about the fun stuff we were doing. It was fun to come up with activities that I knew Charlotte would enjoy or was old enough to try now.
LETTER 1
Hi Big Sister!!
Well, mommy is finally on the road to recovery, so we've been having fun playing the past two days.
Yesterday, we played in your room with all my favorite things... the Little People house and your guys, necklaces, babies, recorder, and the rocking horse. We also practiced doing puzzles. I'm doing pretty good at getting the shapes back into the house puzzle, but the farm puzzle is a bit trickier. My favorite pieces are the duck (of course) and sheep. I also learned how to get my own kleenex, blow my own nose (yes, I puff in and out of my nose repeatedly), and put the kleenex in the trash. Mommy thought I was pretty funny at breakfast, dumping out all my cheerios, putting them back in the bowl, and making my new goofy photo face. She's also letting me practice with your big girl sippy and straw cups.
Today, mommy taught me to finger paint. I only got it in my hair twice, but really seemed to get the hang of smearing the paint on the paper. I kept signing for more paint. I'm making sure mommy still gets plenty of practice reading, especially my Elmo Puppy book. After my morning nap and lunch, mommy and I are going to return some overdue library books and go shopping.
Give Grandma and Grandpa hugs and kisses for me : )
Love,
Charlotte
LETTER 2
Dear Big Sister,
I'm glad you are having so much fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I'm very excited about getting my turn to go next summer!!
Mommy and I had more fun yesterday playing with fuzzies. Mommy got out some old baby food tubs for me to put them in. It's fun because I can see them inside.
This morning, after mommy's long nap, mommy fixed my hair and then we did stickers. I'd never played with stickers before. They are interesting things. I stuck some on paper, but mainly liked walking around the kitchen looking for other places to stick them while wadding them up in my hand. Mommy says you used to stick them all over her shirt, but I prefer sticking them to mommy's and my neck. It's tough because then I look and look, but I can't see where I stuck it.
After playing, I told mommy that I wanted to go "bye bye," so we went to the pet store and Target. Mommy will always remember Petco aisle as the place I took off with walking.
I'm off for my nap now. I love you lots!!
Charlotte
LETTER 3
Dear Caroline,
I'm glad you had fun in Great-Grandpa's boat. Mommy hopes you had lots of sunscreen on. We bet you'll have new freckles when you come home for us to count.
Last night, I got to go out to dinner at mommy's favorite restraunt, La Madeliene. Then we went to Lowe's to look at stuff for mommy and daddy's bathroom.
This morning, mommy and I played with bubbles. I had lots of fun getting to walk around and try to get them. Then, after lunch, we went to Kroger, and I got to steer the big car cart all by myself. It was lots of fun. When we got home, I helped mommy carry in groceries. I've learned so much about helping from my great big sister!!
I can't wait to see you tomorrow. Maybe we can play necklaces. It's my favorite new thing to play.
Love,
Charlotte
