I know I'm way behind in blogging, but I have to post something Caroline just did...
Caroline has been super into dancing since we saw the Nutcracker, so Kevin and I got Caroline ballet shoes and a tutu for Christmas. We also got her tap shoes, since she's been tapping around the house in her church shoes as well.
Anyway, she's been wearing her leotard and ballet shoes since lunchtime today and I was upstairs telling her a little bit about our upcoming school plans. Out of nowhere, she announced that since she's wearing her leotard that she's not going to be a naughty girl anymore (which, we don't every refer to her as "bad" or "naughty"). She then patted her leotard and told me that she's like Angelina Ballerina.
If you aren't acquainted with Angelina, the story goes that Angelina was being naughty, dancing all over the house, not doing her chores or paying attention at school, and then, her parents got her ballet stuff and lessons and she buckled down and straightened up because she enjoyed ballet so much. And of course, she became a world famous dancer.
It's so interesting when stuff like that resonates with a child. Makes you kick yourself for not thinking of it sooner. But of course, ballet shoes don't quite drive folly out of the heart of a child in the real world, quite like it does in a storybook. It would be nice though.
