New tips for birth/baby/breastfeeding

Here are the things I learned this time around...

- Take Avent size 1 bottles/nipples to the hospital and try to use those if the nursery wants you to give a bottle. Those nipples that they put on the freebie Similac formula have way too fast a flow and might have contributed to our nursing issues.

- Preparation H ointment works much better than just using the wipes or Tucks pads.

- Call Suzy Adams from Baby Expressions for Lactation help... 281-463-1871

- Nipple shields (which you can get at Target from Medela - and they actually come in more sizes than you'll find in a retail store) can keep you from getting sore and chapped. I guess that's the big positive to having to use them in these early days.
