This is an update on the peanut allergy situation.
Today was our allergy doctor appt. They tested Caroline for five food allergies (egg, peanut, milk, and two wheats) and she is ONLY allergic to peanut. There is only a 20% chance that she'll grow out of it. We are getting an epi-pen (twin injector) since with increased exposure, her allergic reactions can increase in severity. We also have two sunflower butter samples to try... I'd hate for her to be the only kid not eating PBJs.
The doctor said that eating peanut butter while breastfeeding could have made her sensitive to this. I'd never heard to avoid peanut butter. And I do have an affinity for PBJs to this day. Geez... like a mother needs more guilt. I avoided tons of things while breastfeeding... alcohol, chocolate, ice cream, soft cheeses. If only someone would have told me, I would have been happy to oblige.
Don't feel like I'm beating myself up about this because I believe that Caroline is exactly the way that God wants her to be. She's special ordered to have all of her unique traits that don't exist anywhere else in her direct family tree. A peanut allergy is no huge crisis. We'll just never know how she chooses to eat a peanut butter cup... oh, the inhumanity ; )
