Cooking shows

Most of you know that I have a tendancy to be somewhat of a couch potato. Kevin is probably laughing right now. I'm so blessed to be married to a man that lets me hold the remote... although, we have two remotes for our TiVo now.

Anyway, I have a few observations from cooking shows...

1) Why don't they core their tomatoes? Or am I weird that I core mine? I hate it when I get a deli sandwich with a hard green middle in my tomatoe slice.

2) What's up with Rachel Ray grating her garlic? She used to smack it with her knife. I thought that was pretty cool. Now she's into grating it on her micro plane. Has she never heard of a garlic press?!?!

3) I'm kind of over "30 Minute Meals." They changed the set and I've noticed that they do a lot more work during the commercial breaks now. Plus, the fact that she has a talk show now just turns me off.

okay, that was a bit weird. :)

and no, i didn't know about the couch potato tendencies...another piece of the puzzle falls into place...now you're going to tell me you watch sci fi.

i have absolutely no opinion on cooking shows...now get me talking about HGTV stuff, and i'll give it a go.

I love to cook. Except for when it interferes with my couch sitting time. We got tall stools so I can sit next to the stove and read while I'm cooking. Sad, but true.

1) I am so with you about coring tomatoes. I don't have a tool, but I still cut them out. It's ugly, but necessary. Ugh.

2) Is she now selling a microplane? Maybe it's just the newest (old) fashion. Is the press dead? And what was wrong with just smacking it? Seems to work for me. One less tool to clean. Also, smaller risk of injury.

3) I love Rachael, I really, really do, but that woman needs some medication. I'm joking. Kind of. I've watched her show at a friend's house and I had to leave the room because it was making me so agitated.

If they do more work on the 30 minute meal during the commericals I'm not as interested. Of course it's easy to make in 30 minutes if you have someone to prepare your mise en place and whip out the "we made this earlier" product.

Okay, that sounded more negative than I meant it to be. Seriously, I love Food Network. LOVE it.

We were looking at new cookware yesterday and Kirk wouldn't let me get the Rachael Ray set 'cuz her name was plastered all over it. I never would have pegged you for a couch potato!!! I'm with Cristina on the HGTV!!!

1) Have wondered about this everytime I cut a tomato - thought it was just me :)
2) Since I don't know what a micro plane is, it sounds like a opportunity to sell something...
3) I got over cooking shows once I realized they just make me hungry for stuff that Lean Cuisine doesn't make :D
