We had a wonderful Christmas. We hosted Kevin's family for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. After 5 pm service on Christmas Eve, we had tamales from Pappasito's. I think this is probably Kevin's highlight of the week. Plus, we got plenty and were able to eat them three more times. AND, due to a error with our order, they were FREE to boot : )
So, then Christmas morning. Caroline got the Fisher Price Little People dollhouse from mommy and daddy.
It was fun to have all the kids on Christmas morning. Ethan and Seth loved the fort that Santa brought. It was Paige's first Christmas. It was funny watching the kids trade toys. At one point on Christmas morning, Ethan was playing with Seth's Smart Cycle, Seth was playing with Caroline's ??? and Caroline was playing with Ethan's football.
See, we had a houseful! We had a Christmas feast with turkey and all the sides. We ate so much regular food that we barely made a dent in all the Christmas sweets.
Kevin stepped into his fatherly role and put together all the toys.
After everyone left, I pried myself off the couch to do a quick turnaround of towels and sheets and then my parents came the following day.
Grandma and Grandpa made a baby bed for Caroline... but Caroline thinks it is a "wagon" just for her. Her favorite thing to do is climb inside of it. Grandpa obliged her with many rides over the next three days. I don't know if mommy will be able to keep it up next week.
I got to do some post Christmas shopping on Thursday - once the crowds were gone. Then we just hung out and played with Caroline's toys. Here's a trip to the park with Grandma.
Playing in her new sand table (from Granny and Grandad) with Grandma and Grandpa. Caroline managed to sneak a few mouthfuls of sand past our three sets of watchful eyes. Oh well, no harm done.
And one of my favorite parts was Friday when the trash people finally came. No pictures here, but I really considered it. We had all the wrapping and boxes piled up in our shed. I really take two trash days a week for granted. A week is too long for one diaper pail : P
Friday, I got all the Christmas decorations taken down while my parents played with Caroline. Kevin and I also squeezed a date night in to go see National Treasure. The Goofy cartoon before it is so funny!!
My parents left this morning, and we are back to quiet. At least until New Years : )
