We are in such a different place than when I wrote our Christmas letter last year... literally. Houston is going really well!! We've made new friends at our church through a playgroup that I started, our new parent's Sunday School, MOPS, and Kevin's involvement in the praise team. We've also met many of the families on our new street. We couldn't have asked for a nicer neighborhood. Caroline and I enjoy going for walks in her wagon, swimming in the pool this summer, walking to the mailbox, and playing in the park - not the swings, but the slide and playground mulch.
We can see so many ways that God was looking out for our future and protecting us in the past year. I'd love to name them all for you, but then my Christmas letter might sound like a downer. But there have been several cases where God has been several steps ahead of us, and I'm so glad that He goes before us.
Caroline has changed so much in the past year that it's hard to believe. She's 14 months old now. She just cut her seventh tooth. She's been walking for six months, but thankfully, isn't into running yet. She has a few words like "Budd"y for any dog, "M"oo, "Da"d, "Mama," "Bye" bye, "Neigh," and "Ball." I think she's getting really close to a verbal explosion because she's been really vocal lately. She is also doing well with baby signs for "more," "clean-up," "puffs" (candy), "music," "brushing teeth," and recently "please" (which she does with both hands - too cute). She loves books, although it's difficult to sit still long enough to read more than a page... or to read the pages as fast as she turns them. She is also showing a love of music. We recently put a CD player in her room and she points to it constantly and signs "music."
Work is going well for Kevin. He officially works for Wachovia now (there was a merger). I can tell that he impresses those around him, makes wise decisions, and is a just boss to his employees. Caroline and I are very proud of him.
I enjoy all of my mommy friends that I've met... I don't know what I'd do without them. I'm still scrapbooking, although, I think I'm behind up to Easter. Scrapbooking time should really be my Christmas gift to myself. I've enjoyed remixing all my old decor to decorate the new house on a budget, and recently added some faux stained glass to our front door (I need to post a pic of that). Oh, and I joined my first gym this past month.
We hope you all have a blessed holiday season.
Love,
Kevin, Margaret, and Caroline
