TGIF!!
I'm glad that it's almost the weekend... so Kevin will be home and we can get on with preparing the house for our company over the holidays.
Kevin's parents, his two sisters, and their families are all coming on Christmas Eve and staying through lunch on Christmas day. Then, the day after Christmas, my parents are coming for several days. I have fun hosting everyone, and deep down, I really do enjoy all the preparations... except for some of the cleaning.
Cleaning... bleh!! I've been putting off cleaning the house for two weeks b/c I keep thinking, "why bother, it's just going to get dirty again before the company comes." So, tomorrow is the Big Clean!!
I have been pacing myself with my holiday baking. Ironically, I've gone to the gym for the past three days and then I came home and baked goodies. It really has helped me to limit licking the bowl. Wednesday, I made peanut butter fudge and magic cookies. Thursday, I made sugar cookies. And today, I made my new Ritz chocolate mint candies while I boiled the eggs for deviled eggs and moved the turkey to the fridge to thaw.
Let's see, what news I can put up about Caroline.... I think she's grown an inch since her birthday b/c the pants on her birthday outfit are now capris. She can say "bye bye" and "night night." She is totally in love with graham crackers! She goes through phases with her starches... a week of goldfish, a week of puffs, a week of Ritz, and lately it's graham crackers. If she doesn't want what she has on her plate, she points at the table until we give her the new standby. I tested my "mommy power" this morning and WON... she successfully ate her Cheerios for breakfast BEFORE I would gave her graham crackers... but not without a lot of whining. In fact, she was whining at me as she finally gave in and put the first Cheerio in her mouth. Oh, and another battle, after a hiatous from veggies, she ate peas again last night. Another point for mom. Now, if she would just drink her milk.
Oh, and a kind of new cute thing that I don't think I posted yet... Caroline knows the Itsy Bitsy Spider. She does the very first hand motion of putting her fingers together and rotating her hands in opposite directions. Come to find out, Kevin always does this with her when he changes her diaper... so now it makes sense that she always wants me to do it when I change her diaper. She also does it for a certain nursery rhyme book that has a page for the Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Well, enough blogging. I should go shower from my workout before Caroline's nap is over.
