A word of warning from a good friend of mine... her 14 month old daughter pulled a Christmas stocking and the attached hanger down onto her eye. Praise God that no permanent harm was done.
I'm debating redoing my mantle. But it looks so good (whine), we don't play downstairs much, we mostly play together if we are, and Caroline is already trained really well to stay away from the fireplace, so I don't know : (

i vote you leave the mantle alone and use your friend's warning to make you even more vigilant as far as the stockings are concerned. not that you called for a vote....
we've had quite a few "training opportunities" with our stockings...
i have been worried about this. i took them down, and then put them back up. noah plays right around them, so I think I am going to have to take them down until I figure something else out!
