I think we've decided that we should paint the tan color under the kitchen bar too... but what to do with the shared kitchen/dining wall with the pantry and closet... hmmm.

I love the chair rail - gives just enough color on the bottom w/o being overwhelming on the whole wall. I see where you guys had to split the wall - it looks great, though.
I think you should paint that whole extra wall green to match the kitchen. It's a great color, and that way you'll get a pop of it when you are in the dining room, especially since you went with the neutral khaki in there. :-)
I agree with Carrie about painting that wall green!
