17 for the price of 4

Yeah!! I made my own baby food.

I decided to try it out so I bought three sweet potatoes at the store today and baked them in the oven while I had the oven on to bake brownies. It was really easy. I've been saving the plastic tubs that Caroline's food comes in and I used all but 4 of my stash to freeze the puree.

I'm not doing it for any big reason ($ or nutritional) except that I like to cook for the people that I love. But just for grins, I made 17 tubs of food for the price of 2 twin packs - about $1.60.

I don't know if I'll make a habit of this, mainly b/c I like doing big batches and I think it would be a pain to get a variety of flavors stored up. So, we'll see.

Margaret, I am so glad you guys have a blog. In fact, when you sent out your announcement about yours, it motivated me to finally get ours finished and up!! Hooray for encouragement. :)

As for the baby food, hooray for you, too. Did you know I made Elizabeth's baby food. Loved doing it and hope to do it again. We used the book SUPER BABY FOOD by Ruth Yaron. It was such a good resource for me since I had no clue about when to introduce what and how to make certain veggies. It is definitely a well-researched treatise on food for the very young.

Anywho, it's good to read your updates. Please come and visit ours. (www.littlemorties.blogspot.com)

We hope all is well with you guys in Houston. When you all plan your next trip to College Station, please let us know!!
